About Me

Hi,

I’m Monica Schick, an artist and illustrator who goes by the alias Schimoni Art. I am living in Switzerland with its beautiful mountains and mystical forests. Together with my husband, our two boys, a white dog called Yuma, we live in a house with a garden in the small town Oberriet.

I learn best by experimentation on my own and have never been in an art school. I’m inspired daily by my beautiful surroundings and I love spending time in nature from where I take most of my inspiration. This is reflected in my paintings.

My fascination with art started at a very young age. As a child I was very quiet and shy and watched everything around me closely. I was often fascinated by small things and spent a lot of time observing, which is still the case today. My urge to create something was great even then. So I drew a lot, wrote poems and stories and photographed everything around me with an old camera.

Since then, I have experimented with almost all mediums, such as pencils, crayons, oils, pastels, acrylics, markers and since 2017 I have been fascinated by watercolor, which is what I mainly work with at the moment. I collaborate with clients, license my illustrations and love to be in touch with my Instagram community where I share most of my works.

Thank you for being here, reading my story. I hope that my art speaks to you.

“Keep your love of nature, for that is the true way to understand art more and more.”

-Vincent van Gogh-

Be part of nature

It is a warm sunny day. You are in the middle of nature, surrounded by trees and flowers, in complete peace. Only the rustling of the foliage and the song of the birds can be heard. With a blade of grass between your lips and a satisfied smile, you take a deep breath and close your eyes.

You can smell the sweet scent of the flowers and the resin of the old pine trees, which sway very slowly in the wind. If you listen closely, you will hear the soft creaking of their wood.

You take another deep breath and feel that you are one with your surroundings. Mother nature. You feel that you are part of her.

This is exactly what I want to convey in my art. I want to inspire people to experience nature. To let the time stand still for a while and to live in the moment.

"Everything is interesting. Look closer."

A declaration of love for art

To be with you is an almost meditative process that fills me with life and happiness, and I couldn’t go for long periods without you. You transformed me as a human, you calm me down and clear my mind, you make me feel connected to my inner self and mother nature. You are just what I’ve always done and who I am. My heart will never stop creating!“
